Arrowhead PTA Welcomes New Families

As the parents of incoming students, we know that sometimes you have questions. Our goal is to introduce (or re-introduce) you to Arrowhead and answer some of your most frequently asked questions. Please see our FAQ's below.  Arrowhead is a great school in a wonderfully supportive community. We have caring teachers and very involved parents and this is a big part of what makes our school so special. We want to be sure to welcome your family and your support of our great school!

General FAQ's:

How can I get to know other families in the school community?

A great way to get to know other families at school is to attend the various PTA-sponsored events. During the year we sponsor events such as; the Welcome Back Event, Science Fair, Movie Nights, Art Night, Pancake Breakfast and the list goes on. Hopefully there is something for everyone! Another great way is to join the PTA and attend our general meetings every other month. No commitment to volunteering is necessary, just come and learn more about our school.

What about volunteer opportunities?

There are many ways you can be involved with helping out at Arrowhead. Find out about opportunities at the Welcome Back Event or check out the newsletters and flyers that come home with your child. The PTA website is also a great resource for volunteer opportunities and contact information for all of our committees. There are also plenty of ways to help out in the classroom, which your child's teacher can explain at curriculum night in September.

How do I get school communications?

The Principal publishes a regular newsletter, The Hawk Herald (linked to on the school website - look for emails from the school). PTA has a weekly email Hawk Highlights flyer (sign up here!) as well as our bi-monthly Hawk Talk newsletter, which comes home in "kid mail". Two other great resources for information are the school's website, and the PTA's website, And "like" us on Facebook!

Are there after school activities offered?

We are proud to offer a big variety of after school activities both by the school and the PTA. Cross-country and track are sponsored by the school with a cost to parents. PTA offers After School Art, Sewing/Knitting, Chef's Club, Drama, Lego Club, and much more. You will receive more information about these programs and the costs throughout the school year or you can view the information on the PTA website on the After School Enrichment page. There are scholarship opportunities available for those who may need help with the costs for any of the classes offered. Contact the PTA Treasurer for details, all requests are kept confidential.

What are the drop off and pick up procedures?

Pick-up and drop off is supervised by a parking lot attendant and student crossing guards between 9:00-9:15am and 3:40-3:50pm. Please follow the traffic flow and be cautious at all times. Traffic flow in the parking lot is one-way only. Line up behind other drivers along the curb/right side of the school entry drive and wait to pull forward to the load/unload area. Please do not leave your car unattended while it is in the drop off/pick-up zone. Cross the lot only at the crosswalks and not in front of or behind buses. If your student is late or needs to leave early from school, you will need to sign them in or out in the main office. The main office number is 425-408-4000 and they are happy to help with any questions regarding pick up or drop off.
