PTA General Meeting – You’re Invited!
The February PTA General Meeting is Tuesday, February 2nd at 7:00 pm in the library. Bring your questions about the upcoming Levy & Bond election and learn more about what great activities and events are coming up. Free childcare with craft making for the kids will be available as well as catered treats and door prizes!
We’ll see you there!
Golden Acorn Nominations Due March 4
The PTA Golden Acorn Award is given each year to people who have given exemplary volunteer service to the children at Arrowhead Elementary and our PTA. It is a very special award and is given for continued and dedicated service. This is an excellent way to honor PTA members for their outstanding contributions and to celebrate the difference they make in our Arrowhead community.
There are many people in our PTA who go above beyond for the children at Arrowhead. This is your chance to recognize them. Please take the time to fill out the form (click here). Place your completed award form in a sealed envelope in the "Golden Acorn" PTA mailbox in the office by March 4, 2010.
The Arrowhead Elementary PTA Golden Acorn recipients will be announced at our April 13th General Membership Meeting.
After School Science is Back!
Help your child get in the mood for the upcoming Science Fair (March 16) or simply help your child learn science in a fun and engaging manner! Mad Science is coming back to Arrowhead for 2 six-week sessions on Wednesdays from 3:40 – 4:40pm in Room 603. Look for flyers coming home detailing the first session themed “Science of Senses” beginning Wednesday, February 24th. The cost is $70 for the six week session. After School Science Chair
PTA SUPPORTS BOND & LEVY CAMPAIGNS
Arrowhead PTA voted to support the Northshore School District bond and levy campaigns at our general membership meeting Dec. 8. A resolution was adopted and a donation of $150 approved, which will help provide financial support to Citizens for Northshore Schools to aid in the education and promotion of this campaign.
After School Art Winter Session
After School Art Session 2 begins on February 23 & continues March 2,9,16,23,30. We will be studying sculpting during this session. If you are doing some light spring cleaning we may be interested in your old junk, including: old silverware, CD's, wire hangers, old jewelry & beads, magnets...etc. Although students are NOT required to bring things to sculpt with, it's always fun to add items to the 'grab bin'. Creativity can grow with things that are in your recycle bin! Watch your kid mail for sign up sheets - this class will be a crowd pleaser.

Spring Book Exchange 2010
March 29-April 2
Start your spring -cleaning early! Every spring, our Arrowhead library hosts a book exchange. Students who bring in gently used books (all appropriate titles from toddler to adult) will receive a coupon to pick “new” books during Exchange Week.
Collection Week – during the week of March 15-19, there will be a collection table in front of the library before school and books can be turned in at lunch recesses to Mrs. Noland (volunteers are needed)
Sorting Week: Volunteers are needed to “sort” books into broad categories (toddler, adult, fiction, etc.)
Exchange Week – Students can come to the library before school and during both lunch recesses to turn in their coupons for “new” books.
All books remaining after the exchange will first be offered to teachers for their classrooms and then given to charity (Mrs. Noland is open to suggestions)
This is my favorite win-win event of the year! Parents get cleaner houses, kids and teachers get “new” books, and a local charity also benefits! How cool is that!
