Arrowhead PTA has lots of volunteer opportunities: 

 

Listed below are LOTS of volunteer options! If you can offer some help but can't commit to chairing a program or event, see the Committee Chair List and contact that chairperson to offer your assistance. Thank you for all you do!

 

After School Art:  Coordinate with Art Instruction program and advertise classes.

After School Science: Coordinate as a liaison with After School Science Program winter & spring quarters.

Archives/Photos:  Help Arrowhead PTA document events with pictures, send to webmaster.

Art Auction: Coordinate and run the auction that takes place at the Pancake Breakfast. Each classroom provides one piece for the auction.

Art Docent:  Lead the team that goes into the classrooms each month to teach art to our kids. Extra time required at the beginning of the year to get everyone organized and informed. The Art Docent chair usually helps coordinate an Art Walk in the spring.

Audit:  Conduct annual review (in summer) of PTA Books and report to General Membership in October. Perform mid-year audit of books in January.

Banking: Work with a local bank branch to run a weekly morning banking day; collect student deposits, ditribute prizes, and make bank deposits for students once a week.

Book Club:  Coordinate club leaders and 3rd through 6th grade students in weekly book club meetings in January & February.

Chess Club:  Coordinate with Chess Instructors (Chess4Life, etc.) to organize classes.

Dads-n-Donuts:  Organize this coffee social held in February.

Distribution:  Copy and distribute the Hawk Talk (monthly) and Hawk Highlights (weekly) newsletters.

Drama Club:  Coordinate drama club registration with drama instructor.

Emergency Prep:  Work with school staff to keep emergency container contents up to date.  Educate Arrowhead community about safety.

Foreign Language:  Coordinate with Language School to present classes in the morning and/or afternoon.

Garden:  Keep the Arrowhead gardens going strong: organize a March work party and oversee the health of the gardens.

Golden Acorn:  Previous year recipients work together to review nominations and make selection for current year Golden Acorns.

Grant Writing:  Work with Board of Directors to target potential grants for school/PTA programs.

Green Team:  work with King County rep on Arrowhead's effort to "Go Green". Inform Arrowhead community about ink cartridge recycling program and turn in used cartridges for refund.

Hawk Highlights:  Work with PTA Exec Team to put together weekly newsflash.

Hawk Talk:  Coordinate, edit and layout monthly newsletter.

Hawk Walk:  Organize the committee that runs this important and fun fundraiser that takes place in June.  Some prep work in January, but bulk of time spent is in the spring. Work includes overseeing the advertising, procurement of prizes and sponsors, working with the school and pumping up the kids!

Hospitality:  Provide treats and cheer at five PTA meetings, as well as coordinate Welcome Back Coffee and Mid-year Coffee Social.

Ice Cream Social:  Coordinate fun Back to School event. Involves PTA Committee Chairs and teachers as well as membership drive.

Legislation:  Keep our families informed about important legislative issues, attend PTA Council meetings and serve as liaison between our families and other groups. This year is very important due to the school levy and state budget reductions. 

Library Assistant:  Organize parent helpers for school library.

Membership:  Organize our families to join PTA. Recruit a committee and plan a membership campaign. Advertise, attend events & sign our members up. Collect and process PTA dues. Enroll members in the WSPTA web-based system. Maintain accurate records for our PTA.

Membership/Community Partners: Work with local businesses to join AH PTA.

Movie Nights:  Coordinate 2-3 family movie nights throughout school year.

Pancake Breakfast:  Coordinate this annual community event that feeds the masses!

Parent Education: Contribute/find articles for the Hawk Talk monthly newsletter or find guest speakers for two or three evening sessions throughout the year.

Popcorn Friday:  Organize the team that hosts Popcorn Friday on one Friday of each month. Handle the behind the scenes work in publicizing the days, maintaining the machine, ordering the popcorn etc.

Readathon:  Coordinate this fall fundraiser. Work includes working with school staff, overseeing advertising, procurement of prizes/sponsors and inspiring our kids to read!

Reflections:  Organize this 30+ yr-old National PTSA contest of the arts at the local school level. This includes:  publicizing the event and distributing the contest rules and entry form, collecting the entries and delivering them to the district organizers, and organizing the local school awards ceremony. The time frame is fall thru winter. 

School Dance:  Organize this wonderful, fun event held in March.

Science Fair:  Coordinate annual Science Fair in March.

Social Services:  Coordinate Food Drives, Toy drives and other community service. Work with ASB.

Staff Appreciation:  Coordinate the Welcome Back Lunch for staff in October and Staff Appreciation Week in May.

Student Enrichment Committee (SEC):  Work with PTA members and school staff to review/approve grant requests for student enrichment at Arrowhead.

Sunshine/Care:  Spread sunshine to Arrowhead families by sending cards, or coordinating meal delivery or other helpful services to Arrowhead families in need. The Sunshine Committee may also acknowledge staff birthdays with a balloon, a card or candy.

Website:  Keep this website updated and make it a standard form of communication.

6th Grade Parents:  Coordinate 6th grade year-end party and childcare at General PTA meetings.
